Fingerprint Sensor
Atrua’s touch processing system captures an image of the
finger’s features as the finger is moved over the sensor.
The adaptive
capacitance solid state fingerprint sensor technology accurately
senses ridges and valleys on the finger as it moves across its
surface. Internal circuits within the sensor convert the fingerprint
characteristics into a stream of digital data (a frame) that
is presented to the host microprocessor using standard bus interfaces
compatible with most microprocessors.
The low power fingerprint
sensor is based on our unique and fully passive technology, which
uses a highly sensitive array of capacitive elements to detect
the finest features of the finger and deliver precise data on
the finger movements to the intelligent touch processing software
at high frame rates and with low latency. These super-sensitive
capacitive elements are continuously adapted by Atrua’s
intelligent touch processing software to environmental and usage conditions,
enabling Atrua Wings to be used by virtually anyone – all finger types
in all seasons and under a wide range of environmental conditions.
The fingerprint
sensor combined with intelligent touch processing software provides
a revolutionary new class of user input for fingerprint-based
biometric security and enhanced navigation and control
capabilities.
There are two main classes of touch processing
algorithms that execute on the host and process data streamed
from the fingerprint sensor in order to enable the core functions
of this fingerprint touch processing system:
1. Fingerprint authentication algorithms
2. Control & navigation algorithms
The fingerprint authentication feature offers the market’s
best accuracy and performance. Fingerprint authentication algorithms
extract the minutiae features used for fingerprint verification,
and match the minutiae pattern to the user’s template stored
on the device. Customer benchmarked against the market’s
top fingerprint recognition solutions, Atrua Wings has been shown
to break new ground in accuracy, measured in terms of both false
negatives (FRR) and false positives (FAR) as well as the ability
to enroll virtually anyone. It’s all about improving usability
and we stand behind our no compromise accuracy.
Atrua offers the
industry’s richest set of control and
navigation algorithms, which detect and translate even very fine
finger movements into precise control functions.
Atrua’s
unique and highly innovative algorithms were developed explicitly
for top performance on low-cost platforms, which include the
inexpensive, low-end CPUs and meager amounts of memory typical
on mobile phones and other small mobile devices. These highly
responsive controls can detect and translate even very fine finger
movements into precise controls.
In addition to being highly
sensitive and accurate, Atrua fingerprint sensors are tougher
than nails. Tested to the extremes, they stand up to the use
and abuse typical for mobile phones and game devices. They’ve
been shown to withstand over 10 million finger swipes. That’s
a lot of use! It would take you two full years of operating it
for four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This
incredible durability includes proven resistance to abrasives,
acids, bases, all sorts of cosmetics and other chemicals, not
to mention ESD zaps at +/- 15KV, levels far higher than likely
to be generated by a user in any environment. |
