CECT ANNOUNCES INNOVATIVE NEW MOBILE HANDSETS USING ATRUA'S FINGERPRINT TOUCH CONTROLS
Biometric User Input Solution Improves Security and Usability of Innovative New Mobile Phones
Beijing, China and Campbell, CA, May 21, 2007 –
Qiao Xing Mobile Communication Co., Ltd. (Qiao Xing Mobile) (NYSE:QXM), a leading manufacturer of mobile handsets in China through its CECT subsidiary, today announced that the company's most innovative handset to date - the T100 information security mobile phone launched on May 18th - uses Atrua's made-for-mobile, fingerprint touch control solution. The T100 leads a series of fingerprint-recognition mobile handset models launching in the second half of this year. By utilizing Atrua's fingerprint touch controls, CECT's handsets provide users with improved security and privacy and make it easier for people to control the advanced applications available on their mobile phones.
Atrua's fingerprint solution is a key feature in CECT's T100 handsets. The phones recognize their owner's fingerprints, giving users the security and convenience benefits of no longer having to type passwords and PINs to access mobile applications and services. In addition, the fingerprint solution acts as a tiny touch pad to provide enhanced capabilities for navigating phone menus and user interfaces. After evaluating fingerprint sensors that are available today, we found that Atrua's complete fingerprint touch control solutions for mobile handsets are the best suited for the demanding constraints of mobile handsets and offer superior security, menu navigation, and control capabilities compared to those of typical fingerprint sensor components, said Dr. David Li, CEO of CECT. In addition, the excellent local support offered by Atrua's team helped us to ensure successful and timely integration of the fingerprint capability into these new phones.
Atrua, headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, provides local support to customers in China through its Shanghai R&D office. By designing and developing all key sensor and software technology in-house we are able to work closely with our customers to rapidly tailor solutions that meet their requirements, said Anthony Gioeli, CEO of Atrua.
Atrua's NeuralMatcher software works with Atrua's fingerprint sensor to provide accurate results in the widest range of user and environmental conditions. With Atrua's new LiteMatcher version of the NeuralMatcher technology, processor requirements are reduced so that even low-cost handsets can provide rapid fingerprint response and simultaneously manage other mobile phone functions. We are delighted to have the opportunity to support CECT in bringing these exciting new phones to market at this significant time in CECT's growth, concluded Mr. Gioeli.
