VSense™ is a revolutionary touch input technology that brings enhanced touch control capabilities to mass market devices by using standard keypad materials to convert touch input into responsive control signals. VSense controls utilize a cost-effective micro-pressure sensor technology that is brought to life by Atrua’s highly-efficient, touch-processing algorithms.

The VTD500 TouchDisc™, for example, looks like a traditional 5-way navigation key, but uses VSense technology to deliver dramatically enriched control capability enhanced user experience. In addition to providing familiar 5-way poppel-dome switches with tactile response, the VTD500 offers enhanced control capabilities such as:

• Full Motion Control - Use touch pressure for 360 degree, analog, variable speed motion to pan over web pages, rapidly scan maps, and view documents. Combine touch pressure and gestures to move in three dimensions for panning and zooming on a page, navigating a 3D user interface, or enhancing a gaming experience
• Rotary Motion Scrolling - Convert rotary motion gestures into rapid scrolling responses
• Intelligence and Tunability - Change settings to personalize control response to suit user preferences. Load new software to refresh or enhance navigation capabilities of the same device

The imagination is opened up with the vast touch sensing capabilities and devices that are possible using VSense technology. The highly robust VSense technology can be incorporated into devices with nearly any material and finish, is not susceptible to the proximity detection and moisture issues associated with capacitive controls, and can even be used with gloves on.
