Toshiba is showing off two of its latest mobile handsets at this year's World Congress. The G500 and G900 are targeted at the security conscious professional and provide high-level protection for sensitive personal and business data.
Both 3G Windows Mobile handsets are bound for European markets and include a fingerprint touch control solution supplied by Atrua Technologies.
Customers are demanding fingerprint touch control in Windows Mobile phones due to the critical information they contain, said Kosei Okamoto, chief technology executive, Toshiba.
More secure and convenient than a password or PIN, fingerprint recognition allows users to unlock the phone and its applications by touch alone. In addition the touch control navigation provides users with the ability to scroll through lists smoothly, rather than clicking.
Atrua fingerprint controls can also be used to access frequently used mobile content and data services by creating fingerprint hotkeys that recognise which finger the user swipes to directly access the content without key pressing and searching.
