Atrua Technologies today announced Atrua Wings,
the world's first family of products to utilize haptic processing -
the science of human touch - to convert finger movements into powerful
user commands, secure passwords and intuitive, responsive controls for
mobile phones. Atrua Wings applies underlying technology initially
developed for fingerprint recognition in new ways, enabling one-touch
commands that accelerate m-commerce and other mobile transactions and
4-dimensional controls that enhance the mobile gaming experience and
improve handset navigation.
Atrua Wings was specifically designed to remove key barriers to mass
market usage of m-commerce, mobile services and mobile phone gaming -
namely, too many steps required for access, lack of trustworthy
security as well as inflexible and difficult to use controls.
Atrua Wings is an optimized system that utilizes HaptorXD, a
proprietary form of haptic processing technology consisting of three
key elements: HapticWare, low memory and low-CPU software algorithms
that can reliably identify a user's fingers and detect and understand
various types of finger movements; SenTru, a small, light-weight and
low power haptic sensor designed to work tightly with the optimized
software, and Flexi-Connex, a flexible set of interfaces, connections
and ultra-thin packaging designed for optimal mounting in a mobile
phone.
The company claim that the system is sensitive enough to detect and
track the smallest features, including the tiny ridges on a user's
fingers, and that Atrua Wings provides market-leading fingerprint
recognition capabilities, with better accuracy and greater efficiency
than even those technologies designed specifically and exclusively for
fingerprint recognition. It is designed to sense finger movements in
4-dimensions - x, y, pressure and rotation - and translate these
movements into intuitive and responsive controls that increase mobile
gaming excitement and unleash the increasingly sophisticated
capabilities of today's mobile phones. Atrua has multiple patents
pending on its HaptorXD technology.
Atrua Wings also aims to enhance the user experience for gaming,
location-based services and the full spectrum of advanced applications
found in today's mobile handsets through its small, yet intuitive,
responsive and flexible 4-dimensional analog controls. This new
generation of controls provides touchpad-like navigation and game pad
controls, including analog rotation that converts the user's finger
into a steering wheel or other directional control. Such advanced
controls open the door to an unmatched user experience across the full
range of mobile applications. For example, the mobile gaming
experience on handsets equipped with Atrua Wings reaches a whole new
level, enabled by its never before available 4-dimensional controls.
For location-based services it provides unprecedented ease and
flexibility in selecting areas on maps for zooming and rotating a
map's orientation to match the user's view.
