SALES TRAINING 101 – DON’T BE WEIRD
HEY, LET’S FACE IT…
We’re all a little odd.
It’s OK, it’s what makes us all unique, because YOU ARE SPECIAL!
But, that’s not really the kind of ‘weird’ I’m talking about. It’s the weird we can make some people feel when we have approached them about a great opportunity, exciting adventure or something that’s a bit out of the ordinary.
I’M EXCITED SO LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT THIS AMAZING THING!
Sharing something you really, really love is a normal interaction.
We never think twice about referring someone to a great hairdresser or a taste bud tingling pizza joint. It’s a natural reaction when we find something we love to recommend it to another person. It’s not weird to do that, to think it is weird is just plain well, WEIRD!
So What’s the Hang-Up?
So many people think it’s their job as a direct selling pro to put their own little spin on the product or opportunity they are so darn excited about. AND..here is where it can get weird. Sales Training basics folks.
*They try too hard
Which might make their friend feel a little icky.
Nobody likes ‘pushy’, not even your bff or your mommy.
*They are too polished
Which might make their friend think, “Who the heck is this talking to me? This isn’t my good buddy Joe. He don’t use words that big!”
Nobody likes a slick salesy person. Be you, it’s the easiest person to be.
*They try to ‘sell’ to a person
Which might make their friend wonder, “If this is such a great thing, then why do I feel bad about it?”
*Nobody wants to be ‘sold’. Freedom to choose is #1.
*They come-off as desperate
Which can make their friend feel guilty for saying ‘NO’.
*Nobody wants to feel badly for not having the same excitement as you. Your ‘thing’, opportunity or business just isn’t for them, and that’s A-OK!
HERE’S THE SCOOP!
If the company you are with is everything you say it is, and your friend is looking for a great opportunity, then you shouldn’t have to convince him to join you. He should be able to see the company ROCKS and want to be a part of a great thing.
! Does your company have an outstanding product that CAN NOT be duplicated (will NEVER be found in a mall)
! Are the leaders in your company industry icons (or some corporate dudes wanting to make a fast buck)
! Do the values of your company reflect your own values (are you comfortable with where the company is going)
! Does your company encourage you to live a life filled with happiness (or are you stressed)
! Will you be a better YOU because your company encourages self-development (or are you stressed and angry)
! Does your company give you FREE inventory (or is your garage full of product YOU had to buy to meet a quota)
! Are you rewarded for helping others succeed (or is it “Good luck Chuck, thanks for the dough”)
WHAT’S THE REAL SKINNY?
Here’s the real scoop folks!
If you have to lay-it-on-thick because you want to build your business.
If you have to pressure peeps to join you.
If you have to buy hundreds of $ of product every month in order to reach the next level,
Maybe your need to move on up to something better.
